About Me:
I'm a single mom to a beautiful baby boy, and a college student at Montclair State University. I learned to knit from my mother when I was around 5. I didn't pick it up again until I became pregnant with my son, and since then I haven't stopped. Most of my projects have been for my son and my sister Sam.

Third Time's The Charm... hopefully.

So... I want to restart my shawl, again, I know. But I think I am in way over my head with this pattern I choose too. Luckily after searching Ravelry I found a simple repeat, it's only four rows... nothing too difficult. Hopefully. I've decided that if I take both hanks of Shimmer and knit double stranded I should have a nice length rectangular shawl. I think I'm gonna either go with size 7 or 8 needles. The pattern calls for size 5 using a fingering weight wool. So... who knows maybe this is ye… Continue

One sock done... five more to go... yes five.

So I finally finished the first sock for my baby's daddy. Indeed. It looks lovely. Sad thing is, I have a decent amount left over which means I could have made the cuff at least another inch longer than the five inches it is. Oh well... another iPod cozy for my sister Sam then. I really liked working with Gloss. It knits up beautifully, it sparkles really! Anyway now I have to knit sock number two, then I'm gonna knit up a pair for Sam, and finally decide on what pattern to do for my pair... I j… Continue

Starting Over... and Over, and Over...

The past couple of days has definitely been a time for starting projects over. My son pulled the needles out of my sock, and before I put them back in, which wouldn't be hard, (Essential tends to stay in loops), I try my sock on, low and behold, it's too small. So, I decided to work on larger needles. I moved from a size 1 to a size 3. Yes, I know, but it seems to me that there is more stitch definition in the size 3 then size 1. In this gauge however, there is no spiraling, and no pooling, but… Continue

Lace Knitting is Cruel.

I had to rip out my shawl... it was only the one repeat long anyway, but I caught a mistake in it... and I realized that there were too many repeats to count. Too much for a first lace project. So after searching the internet, I found a simple repeating leaves pattern, that I'm just gonna make into a long rectangular shawl. No crazy increases, just straight knitting back and forth. I'm going to use size 4 needles cause I want a tighter knit, and go 7 repeats across, cause it's 22 stitches, plus… Continue

Socks

I recently purchased Knitting Vintage Socks. And enough yarn to knit three pairs. One for myself, one for my sister, and one for my son's daddy. There should be enough left over from mine and my sister's pairs to make two pairs for my son (daddy has big feet). I have my socks in progress, I love how the Blue Violet Multi is pooling and spiraling, it's so cool. I do have one complaint though. I have large legs and wide feet, and I haven't the patience to sit and adjust a pattern so it will fit on… Continue
