I think we would all agree that knitters, on the whole, are totally awesome peeps - no arguement there,
Right? Right! Well I'd like to confirm just how super dooper cool the knitting community is.
In my current endevor to reduce my stash I cast on for
Ulmus. Wonderful pattern, well written, gorgeous design AND used 2 skeins of sock yarn! After digging through my stash I finally decided on pairing Icicle & Butternut from the Yarn Pirate Booty Club.
C/O and began happily knitting away, feeling extremely proud of my continued efforts to
bust ze'stash.

ummm... Uh oh.....Serenity now - Serenity NOW!
ain't gonna make it...
not even close. Not even enough of the Butternut to finish the point on the leaf to then switch to Icicle to finish the border.
Craaaaaaaaap!
Gone was the warm glow of self satisfaction. I blew it. Not Enough Yarn.
Off to Ravely to beg, borrow or steal. I knew I could probably purchase another skein, but that kinda defeats the purpose of stash reduction....so I sent out a desperate plea.
A whiney, why me?, please help, really pitiful kinda plea.
(and I just bet you can guess what happened next)
They came, they sympathized, they sent me their scraps!!!!!
And you know what else? As incredibly grateful as I am....
not surprised one bit. Because we all know the moral of this story.
Knitters are givers. (and totally awesome peeps - agreed? Agreed!)
Special Thank You to Susan (
Infinitespirals) Katie (

And I completed the shawl....with a little help from my friends!
(eta - shawl is unblocked - straight off the needles)
