FYI... I read some time ago, an article about dog fur, and how well it performed as a garment. Some ice climbers tested it against wool. Guess what, the dog fur was a little warmer, and kept the head drier, than wool!
Yey Pups!!!! Yes It can do well spun alone, and takes dye very well.
Most of us want the natural fur color though, it is so beautiful, and a great keepsake of your best friend :)

I knit socks from the top down, very simple pattern. I taught myself socks from an old issue of Threads many years ago. They had a pictorial tutorial that I could make sense of and it wasn't a set pattern per se but after taking measurements, you could knit socks for anyone. This is how I learned socks and have kept to this pattern all these years. My first pair of socks were from my handspun. I still have them, although I no longer wear them. I wore holes in them. I hope to mend them one day, but just owning them is enough. I don't need to wear them. Most recently, I switched over from knitting socks on double pointed needles to two circular. Now that is an amazing transformation and I highly recommend it. I have Cat Bordhi's new book of various patterns and I hope to dive into that one day.

I absolutely love knitting lace however I struggle with it because it challenges me in ways I am not always willing to be challenged in. For instance, my visual processing system (meaning how my brain interprets what I see with my eyes) doesn't work like other folks'. I can totally understand any written lace chart. But taking my eyes off the chart to knit and then going back to the chart makes me crazy because it's like starting over again. So I need to have ample energy and time to focus on that kind of a project. I managed really well with the Kiri Shawl from Knitting Across the Pond, and gave that shawl away as a gift. I have photos of it somewhere. When I find them, I'll post them.

I am interested in knitting some lacy tops for myself for the summer. I get as much enjoyment from thinking about knitting and planning projects as I do actually knitting!!!
