About Me:
I have three adorable kids and a wonderful husband. I enjoy cooking, which is a good thing with three kids to feed! I also love to read just about anything. Writing and photography are two of my other hobbies, though I don't have as much time for them as I used to! I enjoy knitting and sewing, but have found that it's easier to knit and keep an eye on my little ones. So, I've been doing a LOT more knitting lately. My daughter is completely fascinated with my knitting, and I look forward to teaching her when she is a little older. Knitting needles and toddlers don't mix!

Baby Knitting...

I finished a LOT of baby knitting for my cousin's baby shower this past Saturday. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of the pile of baby knits. Oh well, at least I have three more baby showers before fall, so I should get pictures of at least SOME of the baby things that I've been knitting! I still have plenty of baby things to knit, but I've taken a bit of a break from baby stuff. I've been knitting on a really cute tank top pattern that is a free download from Interweave Knits. It takes… Continue

Tossing in a bit of crochet...

My mitered squares are my "fun" knitting. I've decided that I should start work on some of my Christmas projects. My mom saw a pattern for a crochet afghan made up of hexagons. Anyone who is familiar with quilting will recognize the name of the pattern, Grandma's Garden. I'll have to try and post a photo when I have some of them seamed so that you can see why it's called by that name. I have to knit it in acrylic since Mom is VERY allergic to wool. Cotton just didn't seem right for this afghan,… Continue

More Squares

I'm obsessed with knitting mitered squares at the moment. My daughter loves to see the new color combinations each time I finish another square. I really think this kid will be quite the knitter! She loves yarn, and LOVES color! I like to knit in the evening to unwind, and if I finish any squares, I show them to her in the morning. So far, she likes the ones that have purple the best!

I've found a pattern for a really interesting sleeveless top for summer. I'd really like to knit one for myself… Continue

Mitered Squares

I just started knitting squares for the mitered squares blanket this week. Unfortunately, I'm not using knit picks yarn! My mom had to get rid of just about all of her yarn stash because she has become allergic to pretty much anything but cotton yarn. So, that included some Lion Brand Wool-ease, which is a 20% wool 80% acrylic yarn. I've gotten to be pickier about my knitting yarn since I discovered that yarn was made out of more than just acrylic! I usually don't use acrylic much anymore, but t… Continue

Thanks for the hint in storeing yarn in plastic bags,I usually leave an opening in my bags so they won't sweat, living in Tx the temperatures can be very hot, so you have to be very carefull, what are you knitting at this time. I have finished my Holiday knitting, but I never don't have something on the needles, somepeople don't believe we wear a lot of knitting here, but we do, we have fall throught the winter,up to Feb.that knits feel very good. Oh! Be carefull of the zip lock bags and your yarn. If you live in an area where the temp fluctuates the bags will sweat on the yarn and make for lots of uglyness. If you make little holes in the bags -I use a paper punch- that will allow the bags to breathe. I also take some dried lavender (without added oils) and tie it in the toe of an old panty hose to keep the buggies away. But storing yarn in plastic for long periods is asking for sad faces. I learned this the very hard way.
Happy knitting,
BEE
