Sneak Peak - New Spring Yarn

It's that time of year again! We have some great new cotton and lace yarn coming in for Spring 2010. Diedre handles all of our yarn orders, and she places a separate order for an early air shipment of samples so we don't have to wait until the container of yarn arrives by boat. This system lets us keep the shipping costs for the bulk of the yarn low, but we get to use the samples ahead of time for catalog samples, kit development, and other projects.

Holiday Audio Treat: Miss Eiderdown's Stocking

We have a special treat for Knit Picks podcast listeners this week! The folks over at Boxer Press Audio have created a knitting-themed holiday radio play, and we've added it to the podcast feed. It'll be in two parts, and Part One will go live today, with Part Two going live next Friday. The story is called Miss Eiderdown's Stocking. Kelley's really into listening to audio books while knitting, and we thought that you would all enjoy a little extra listening material while you're finishing up al… Continue

My ears were cold, and my mood was, um, a bit silly.

Who wouldn't want a hat that makes them look like an Emissary of the Elf People? The pattern is Sloochie (Ravelry link), the yarn is… Continue

You gotta teach me that magic loop technique again, double pointed needles are way confusing for me, Brent has Kelley to teach him everything about knitting and I'm all alone down here... Help!

Thanks Alison--I should substitute k for every other section( in the blue YO k2tog) directions?--sorry to be obtuse, but I' still a novice at this lace thing and I find her directions somewhat ambiguous?? Thanks again--happy stitching!!

Having the hemi almost finished--I'm looking for lace project #2 and your beautiful circular shawl looks like a good one for this novice?? Reading the chart on p.82 of Meg's pattern, It looks like solid lace, but the picture looks like everyother section is lace--what am I not reading correctly?
Is there any chance that KP could carry the Girasole pattern as a designer's special--it is beautiful, but pay pal seems difficult?

Hi, Alison --

Thanks for the alert about the spammer you've banned. Was "Shawn C" the one responsible for the recent spate of emails I received telling me about huge discounts I purportedly was entitled to at certain businesses, each message incorporating my first name? I wondered about those.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Susan the Blue Lake Knitter mentioned she never received an email about the comment on her wall. Then I realized I never did either! Just wanted to let you know!

Alison, Thanks for being on top of this. I thought it fishy when I saw this on someone else's page. I can't even remember whose. I didn't think anything of it until teriknits sent me an IM questioning me about it. She had already reported it and I decided to do the same. Then I realized this was a weekend and I didn't want someone who might not be experienced with computers to end up with a virus of some sort. I looked at the all the members and realized I couldn't send messages to everyone because the 13,000+ are not all on my friends list. So when I saw that it seemed to be directed to those on the current KALs I decided the best way was to post a discussion on every KAL. So now I'm official a member of every one of them. I'll never get any knitting done! Maybe I should just become a KP employee! LOL.

Thank you for acting on this so quickly.

Cheryl
