I just started the sampler last night and am so happy with learning the different stitches and their characteristics. I have knitted a lot in the past 3 years, socks and recently lace, but, I really like being able to learn to read my knitting. I was totally unaware that the garter stitch is done differently in the round vs flat . Dah, I just did what the pattern that I was using called for. Now I know what to expect. Love this book. The sampler is fun and a great learning experience.

I am on the last step of the sweater sampler.....it was scary at times, and I thought about skipping steps...but I hung in there and did each and every task. I learned sooooo much!!!! It has made me a much 'braver' knitter.

I am totally new her and just bought the book Sweater Workshop but it seems to be the one that was published in 1983. Is there significant difference with the 'revised' one from 2002??

Hi everyone, I just jointed the group and look foreward to learning how to knit a sweater. I ordered the book from KP yesterday so I'll be anxiously waiting for it to come. I have never seen this book, nor have I knitted a sweater. I understand that in the book there is a practice piece that teaches the basics of sweater knitting??? I learned how to knit socks starting on a tiny practice sock in Sensational Socks. Once I finished the practice sock, it made it really a lot easier to go on to other sock projects. I hope this is how it will be with learning how to knit a sweater.

Hello all, I just joined the group. I, too had this book ages ago (original ed.) and lost it. This time I'm starting it and have made it to the K2P2 after the Twisted ribbing. Since this is a workshop book I hope to learn a lot. I also want to use set-in rather than raglan sleeves. Has anyone tried that yet?

Regards, Sandra

Hello all ~ I borrowed this book from my library and instantly fell in love with it! I've ordered a copy of my own and plan to start with the sweater sampler first, just as soon as I finish a couple of UFO's I have in the works. Then I have plans for my first four sweaters to practice techniques ~ all for kids so they'll go quickly!! Lots of practice so when I make some for me I'll have all of the kinks worked out. :-)

I LOVE this book, I am learning so much, I am knitting the sampler, I love her cast on and adding new yarn techniques, this book has been worth every penny- I finally found it at an "out of the way" yarn shop.

I am on the waiting list for the "Sweater Workshop" book. I will start knitting my guage swatch as I am waiting. I just finished knitting my husband a sweater. Even though he loves it I wish the sleeve seams that join at the under arm were not so bulky. I used the Sweater Wizard to calculate the pattern. It was great as the sweater fits very well. My best sweater was sewn together on the sewing machine. I even cut the front and put on binding. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I was so disappointed to see that the book is on backorder. But I guess that will give me incentive to finish my current project before I start this one.

Hello, I have owned the Sweater Workshop for many, many years. I started my first sampler years ago and lost it soon after starting. I ended up having to buy another copy of the book, too! This time, I am happy to report, that I have gotten all the way to the cardigan border and I have not lost the book or the sampler! The book, however, has disintegrated, I'll have to punch the pages and put it in a binder... but I still have all of it!
Lessons I have learned so far: use a nice feeling yarn, it's much more pleasant, and don't knit when you're tired, unless you want to practice your ripping out skills.
Perfect knitting weather here, good weather for ducks!
