How many hours a day do you knit? 13 Replies

I find myself hooked on socks, all of a sudden, but have other things to do, too. I see that some of you finish your socks in just a few days. I'd like to know how you do that.

I started the striped chevron shaped socks. I am doing them on a set of five needles, four with the stitches and one to work with. This is great since there is one pattern on each needle. This way I don't have to count! I really like the book.

Well, Hi ! I just joined this Sock knit-a-long.. also have enough wool to do 25 pairs of socks and I knit both socks on dpn so I don't get bored and won't finish them.. I'll have to find the book you all are using and get started on one of the patterns.

I taught myself to knit, crochet and cross-stitch. I love to knit though and I think socks are my fav. I wanted to share with you the way I like to knit socks two at one time: I bought another set of dp needles in the sizes that I knit socks in and knit them at the same time. I start one sock knit for a while then start the other sock knit that one to where I stopped on the first one and go a little further. I which back and forth until the socks are done. I only knit top down, I haven't try toe up yet. I don't think it takes any longer this way then with two circulars or the magic loop or what every. I like to change the tops of my socks with different patterns. Some I get from books and some I make-up myself. I would make notes so I could make the second one the same as the first. Working with two sets of needles this is not necessary. So if you don't mind dpn maybe this can work for you. Also you need to balls of yarn.

Help! I am working very hard on the ladybug socks. I am having trouble with the "wrapped stitch". I have tried it and ripped and ripped. Is there a trick or anyone have an adaptation to doing the heel the "standard" way. I am ready to give up. It sounds easy enough but somehow I am not transferring the description to the needles. Thanks.

Hi everyone I ordered the book yesterday so it will be a week or so before I have it, I love knitting socks Toe Up or Cuff Down, using 1 or 2 circulars or double points, they are all fun.

HELP!! I bought the items for the Penguin socks, and have tried to start them BUT...am I the only one who is confused about the placing of the charts- and the discrepancy in the picture and the graph. Are graphs a& B worked simultaneously- IF so, why are there several rows of just blue worked in the picture, but not on graph B-unless, one does graph a, then graph b? I'm usually pretty good at color and graphs, but I'm really stumped right now. mmadamslibrarian

I just received my yarn from KP and decided to try the Slouch Socks. The Tuck instructions are a little daunting but I am going ahead with the plan. There is nothing like trying new things. If anyone has any tips for "tucking" I would really appreciate them!

Just got some yarn to make penguin pop out socks and am very excited!!! Should be a BLAST! Did anyone else find it odd that they are not knit in a round??? That's what i get for not reading ahead, oh well, my new seed stitch cuff is cute :)

P.S. I'm a starving grad student and knit picks is the one place that makes knitting affordable!!! Love you guys!

Just got my book & yarn --I have 2 pairs I want to do--starting with"Footlets" -- but have a question about my second pair "Do the Twist" -- looking at pg 116, for the left sock the cast on is 95 and for the right sock it's 97 for the same size. The difference of 2 stitches continues thru the pattern -- I'm not a very experienced knitter,so maybe there's a reason (maybe for the twist?!?) -- any info greatly appreciated.
